Our Take

ChemRxiv is chemistry’s dedicated preprint server, backed by the field’s major societies, and it’s where chemical research increasingly appears before journal publication — the early-signal layer for a discipline that adopted preprints later than physics or biology. The standard preprint caveat applies: moderated for scope, not correctness. Use it to track the chemistry frontier and to post your own work early; verify claims against the peer-reviewed version, and pair with PubChem/SciFinder for substance and reaction data.

Power Tips

  • Add ChemRxiv to your scanning for early chemistry findings, tiering confidence as you would any preprint (Issue 4)
  • when a ChemRxiv paper reports new substances or reactions, verify them in PubChem or SciFinder before relying on them.
