Our Take
Bloomberg Law is the newer challenger to Westlaw and Lexis — its differentiator is the marriage of legal research with Bloomberg’s business and company intelligence, plus strong docket and transactional tools, which suits corporate and regulatory practice. Its analytics and workflow features are modern. The trade-offs: its case-law editorial depth and citator are younger than Westlaw’s KeyCite, and it’s still enterprise-priced. Use it where legal and business questions intersect (M&A, regulatory, corporate); rely on KeyCite/Shepard’s when citation validation is critical.
Power Tips
- Use its docket tools to track litigation in real time.
- Lean on the business-intelligence integration for corporate and regulatory matters.
- Validate whether a case is still good law with a mature citator if the stakes are high.
